Description

Description:

The Puerto Rican crested toad is medium-sized, ranging in length from 64 mm to 120mm, and is easily recognizable by its upturned muzzle and bony crest on its head. Adults are brown or yellow-brown in color with black or brown spots, and their ventral surfaces are creamy white with some dark spots. Females are larger than Поклонная гора экскурсии males and have a more noticeable crest (photo below). During the breeding season, males show yellow coloration on their flanks and have dark mating pads on the first and second toes of their forelegs. Young toads are dark brown, have chevron markings on the back (the chevron pattern tends to disappear after 2 years of age) (Lentini, 2004) and have rust or salmon-colored edges along the back and sides.
