Field Program

 

Through SSP partners and project collaborators, a variety of in situ field work and research are conducted to ensure the survival of wild and introduced populations of crested toads.

 

Field programs include:

  •  Pond construction for reintroduction
  • Breeding pond construction (to augment natural breeding sites and reintroduction sites)
  • Natural history research
  • Mark and recapture studies at all known PRCT toad sites
  • Invasive species monitoring and removal
  • Biotic and abiotic influences on habitats
  • Acoustical monitoring in search of new populations
  • Amphibian disease surveillance
